1.
When you were younger, never so weak Somehow you crawl back on your feet Over and over, we’d see you fall A simple symptom of withdrawal Run into light, run from eternal night Your will’s been broken, for far too long So unaware of what went wrong The daily struggle, get out of bed A small feat of strength to clear your head Run into light, run from eternal night You must confess that in duress If you can’t defer then you’ll regress To a child-like state to incubate And allow your world to disintegrate Run into light, run from eternal night
2.
Heaven sent, but got relent We don’t need no more grief Let us please repent Hallowed souls revered our roles, As we stray from the path to review our goals Let me know, was it worthwhile? In a bitter rage, it still brings a smile Take the cues, you know you’re born to lose How can you win, in the condition you’re in? May I attest that I detest the words That we used in our last address Lit the fuse, from there you run All the battles lost from arguments won Little known of how to cope with reality As it drains all hope A vacant gaze, a hollow stare When the truth sets in Few words can compare Take the cues, you know you’re born to lose How can you win, in the condition you’re in? Sorrow, love in vain It burns, like lashes of flame Heaven sent, but got relent We don’t need no more grief Let us please repent Little known of how to cope with reality As it drains all hope A vacant gaze, a hollow stare When the truth sets in Few words can compare
3.
Please don’t protest, for the rest of your life You know you won’t avoid All the pain and the strife Disagree or defend Honestly I guess it really depends It’s hard enough, to get ahead When there’s no one you trust It’s hard to climb, When you know you’re at the end of the line And I try, and I try, and I try To regain some dignity And balance my time It’s a means to an end, and it’s close I can feel it my friend It’s hard enough To get ahead when there’s no one you trust It’s hard to climb When you know you’re at the end of the line

Dead Air 05:42
I am standing on the precipice of time Reassured we’ll all be fine Always told to tow the line As I’m draining all the blood from every stone Every inch another moan Finding pain a private home It’s so amazing How these days they never end How a vice becomes a friend How the broken never mend It’s so draining, but someday I’d love to know The grand finale of the show Make it count before we go It’s coming down to the wire No more help is on the line I am waiting for the ground to finally thaw Reveal the gifts we never saw Remain perpetually in awe I am diving into every void there is in sight To only fill them out of spite It isn’t wrong, it isn’t right Light is fading slowly As we drift for foreign shores As if we’re driven out by wars, As if your home’s no longer yours It’s only waiting to re-emerge As someone new To rearrange my world view Explore every avenue It’s coming down to the wire No more help is on the line
5.
Always someone calling out to you Always returning the call And when I say that it’s nothing new Darling, I’ve been through it all A soul torn and re-sewn Left battered & bruised Battered & bruised And they will say I’m no good for you You know it’s hard to forget And when I say that it’s nothing new Darling, I’ve got no regrets A soul torn and re-sewn Left battered & bruised Battered & bruised
6.
Every time you tell me not to worry You know exactly what I’ll do Every time you’re in a hurry And I’m left without a clue Every time you speak to me, Your eyes are glued to the floor Anytime I look away, I’m just daydreaming Searching for more Why bother trying You’ve got to cut them loose And I realized, on that day I realized that time is no excuse Frantic and discouraged This man, he finally broke Reflecting on the years My departure, the final joke Now I’m all alone Tragic from your point of view All good things come to an end A chance to start anew Why bother trying You’ve got to cut them loose And I realized, on that day I realized, that time is no excuse The artifice of knowledge Replaced organic joy And the realization That I was just a decoy But a future follows Not the first and won’t be the last Were all social actors A simple role to recast Why bother trying You’ve got to cut them loose And I realized, on that day That time is no excuse
7.
Gone were the days where we tried To make a good thing last, long for a way Maybe we can reconcile with our past Well, I can see that you’re aware That all euphoria’s died I hope you’ll finally realize that I tried I was such a fool to be so blind How did we let things get so low? How many days till I finally let go? I’m ready For more, then just survival I’m already Awaiting your reprisal Isn’t it strange How silence spoke more than words ever could? Lost and deranged Often wondering if you ever would Admit any fault or maybe compromise; Sometimes it really drives me out of my mind How could you pretend it’d all be fine? How did we let things get so low? How many days till I finally let go? I would never pull you under I would never bring you down When the world is torn asunder You’ll be there on higher ground

about

True Bearings roves wild, rough terrain, but with ease that only comes from many road-worn years. Each of the seven songs are anchored to a plaintive, poignant hook, tastefully embellished with subtly delicate touches that proves Freeways as masters of mood. The quartet's interplay is untouchable here, given that their chosen idiom is the more-or-less hard(er) end of rock, exhibiting class and poise every step of the way, but perhaps no better evinced than on the near-seven-minute vamp of "Time is No Excuse." The 37-minute True Bearings is a highway worth cruising time and time again.

about

Freeways Brampton, Ontario

CANADIAN HEAVY ROCK...WITH A NWOBHM VIBE! Indeed, Freeways are a breath of fresh, northern air. Honoring the mystical undercurrents of so much classic Canadian rock of the past, the quartet's sound is firmly built upon a foundation of '70s giants - such as UFO, Thin Lizzy, and April Wine - along with the distinctive twists of the unsung heroes of the NWOBHM. ... more
